Renos Lyssiotis – Founder & Legacy

Renos Lyssiotis is one of Cyprus’ most distinguished lawyers. A Barrister of Gray’s Inn, London, he began practising law in Cyprus in 1955, at a time when the island was still under British rule. His life story is closely interwoven with the island’s modern history: as an active participant in the EOKA struggle for Cyprus’ independence, as a trusted advisor to generations of businesses and families, and as an author who has recorded his journey. Known for his integrity, dedication, and vision, he continues to inspire clients and colleagues alike.

Licensed lawyer no. 424 with the Cyprus Bar Association, Renos has built a career spanning more than seven decades. His practice covers a wide spectrum of disciplines, with particular strength in Commercial, Corporate, and Intellectual Property Law. In 1961, he founded the Renos Lyssiotis Trademark Bureau, one of the earliest firms in Cyprus dedicated to trademark registration and protection. Over the years, he has guided businesses and individuals on corporate structuring, contracts, mergers, acquisitions, and intellectual property with a unique blend of legal precision and practical foresight.

His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish several successful ventures, including:

• Ledraiki Ltd (1958) – wholesale distributor of luxury goods
• Argus Information Service (1960) – pioneering provider of legal and business intelligence
• Renos Lyssiotis Trademark Bureau (1961) – one of the first firms dedicated to trademarks in Cyprus
• Securitas Services Ltd (1967) – among the first organised private night-guard services in Cyprus
• Tiffany Boutique (1971) – landmark fashion store in Cyprus specialising in luxury designer women’s clothing
• Veritas Research and Survey Institute Ltd (1980) – one of the first polling and public opinion research companies in Cyprus

In 1994, he expanded into corporate services with Verlys Nominees Limited and V.R.L. Nominees Limited, affiliated with Vera Lyssiotis LLC, ensuring the continuation of the family’s legal and business tradition.

Beyond law and business, Renos is also a prolific author. Over the years he has written six books, recording his experiences, reflections, and stories. Among them is «Στρατάρχα μου, παραδίδομαι! … και 19 άλλες ιστορίες» (“My Marshal, I Surrender! … and 19 Other Stories”), which preserves his personal memories while also offering a vivid contribution to the modern history of Cyprus.

Today, Renos Lyssiotis stands among the most distinguished lawyers and respected personalities of Cyprus, a recognition earned through his lifelong dedication to the law, entrepreneurship, and public life. His life motto has always been: “I always gave, and never asked for anything” («Πάντα έδινα, ποτέ δεν ζήτησα»).
