Digital Nomad Visa
Overview
The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa allows non-EU/EEA nationals to live in Cyprus while working remotely for companies or clients abroad. Relaunched and updated by the Civil Registry and Migration Department in March 2025, the scheme forms part of Cyprus’ national strategy to attract global digital talent and position the island as a modern tech and business hub in the Eastern Mediterranean.
With its high quality of life, reliable infrastructure, safe environment, and competitive tax regime, Cyprus is increasingly becoming one of Europe’s top destinations for digital professionals.
Eligibility
To qualify, applicants must demonstrate that they can support themselves and their dependants while working remotely. Requirements include:
- Remote Employment or Business Activity – either employed by a foreign company with no presence in Cyprus, or self-employed with clients established abroad.
- Minimum Income – at least €3,500 net per month (after tax), increased by 20% for a spouse and 15% for each dependent child.
- Clean Criminal Record – certificate issued within the last 6 months from country of residence or origin.
- Health Insurance – covering inpatient and outpatient treatment in Cyprus.
- Accommodation – proof of rental agreement or property ownership.
Key Features
- Initial permit valid for 1 year, renewable for an additional 2 years.
- Dependants may accompany the applicant but are not allowed to work in Cyprus.
- If staying more than 183 days per year, applicants may qualify as Cyprus tax residents.
- The 60-day tax residency rule provides flexibility for those splitting time across countries.
Benefits
The Digital Nomad Visa offers both lifestyle and financial advantages:
- Live in Cyprus while working remotely with global clients.
- Access to one of Europe’s most favourable tax regimes.
- 50% income tax exemption for new residents earning over €55,000 annually, for up to 17 years.
